A new person... well, sort of...

I have a tan... a tan better than any tan I have ever gotten in socal! I guess thats what happens when you live by the pool, from sun up to sun down, with nothing better to do than sit and read! Provance is fantastic, the people here are far more laid back and easy going. Much of southern france reminds me of home. It is dry and hot with rolling hills covered in brush. Although, not nearly as much is covered in concreat, infact much of the pavement we walk on is cobble stone. In an earlier post I talked about the Bells of Honfleur, but nothing compares to the bells in our tiny town of southern france. Our villa is litteraly steps away from the church door. On the hour, every hour, saint Maximum announces the time, and on Sunday mornings at 10 15 the most magnificent call to worship rings out from atop the tower. When you are trying to sleep these bells combined with the local rooster can get anoying, but it all adds to the life we lead here in southern France.

Uzez, the closest big town (where i am writing from) is currently in the middle of their huge festival. We saw the "running of the bulls" Uzez style on Friday night. Everyone was out for the festivities... its been a fantastic opportunity to experience european culture durring the festivals of the region. There has been markets and parades too numerous to count, all lined with the scent of lavendar(except of course where the bulls and hourses have been).

Another of our adventures has been with our New Zealander land lady and her friends. These ladies are like characters from a novel. They have come to Southern France to live the life they want to live. Late nights in town flirting with every moving male being, generally speaking, much younger than they are. Having wild dinner parties and dancing on the patio. These ladies embody something so hillarious and yet sad all at the same time. Dont worry, there will be plenty of New Zealander stories from this trip to come!

Tomorrow we go south for the day to the Coast!!! White beaches and blue water here I come!!!

Karen,

How bout some pictures of your tan-ness? Glad to hear you are having a good time. You need to hang out (party) with those older women at least one night...that will be a story to tell. I look forward to hearing about it in your next entry.

Karen--

Our party was a huge success, how nice it would have been if you could have been with us! It's good that you have found the people of southern France to be more friendly. Enjoy! Love, Nana
